Islamic calendar 2027 key dates
The key Islamic dates of 2027 run from the first day of Ramadan on Monday 8 February to Ashura on Tuesday 15 June. Umm al-Qura is Saudi Arabia's calculated calendar; the last column is what the Fiqh Council of North America publishes for North America. For 2027 the two agree on every date the council lists.
| Day | Arabic | Transliteration (meaning) | Hijri date | Umm al-Qura | Fiqh Council of North America |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| First day of Ramadan | أول رمضان | awwal Ramadan (first of Ramadan) | 1 Ramadan 1448 | Mon, Feb 8 | Mon, Feb 8 |
| Eid al-Fitr | عيد الفطر | Eid al-Fitr (feast of breaking the fast) | 1 Shawwal 1448 | Tue, Mar 9 | Tue, Mar 9 |
| Day of Arafah | يوم عرفة | yawm Arafa (day of Arafah) | 9 Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 | Sat, May 15 | The day Saudi Arabia announces |
| Eid al-Adha | عيد الأضحى | Eid al-Adha (feast of the sacrifice) | 10 Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 | Sun, May 16 | The day after Saudi Arabia's Day of Arafah |
| Islamic New Year | رأس السنة الهجرية | ras al-sana al-hijriyya (head of the Hijri year) | 1 Muharram 1449 | Sun, Jun 6 | Sun, Jun 6 |
| Ashura | عاشوراء | Ashura (the 10th of Muharram) | 10 Muharram 1449 | Tue, Jun 15 | Tue, Jun 15 (counted from its 1 Muharram) |
The council lists no separate Arafah or Ashura date. Eid al-Adha, it says, is the day after the Day of Arafah "as determined by the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia"; its 1 Dhu al-Hijjah 1448 is Friday 7 May, as in Umm al-Qura. Ashura, 10 Muharram, is a day of mourning for Shia Muslims, who remember Husayn, the Prophet's grandson.
2027 month by month

Only September and October 2027 each hold a whole Hijri month: Rabi al-Akhir 1449 runs from 2 to 30 September and Jumada al-Ula 1449 from 1 to 30 October. The Gregorian start date and length of every Hijri month from 1447 to 1449 are in our Hijri month start table, and the converter on that page turns any single date either way. Ramadan 2027
Ramadan 2027 (Ramadan 1448) begins at sunset on Sunday 7 February, and the first fast is Monday 8 February. By the Umm al-Qura calendar the month has 29 days, so the last fast is Monday 8 March and Eid al-Fitr is Tuesday 9 March. If Ramadan runs to 30 days where you live, Eid moves to Wednesday 10 March.
| Night or day | Hijri date | Begins at sunset on | Daytime date |
|---|---|---|---|
| First night and first fast | 1 Ramadan | Sun, Feb 7 | Mon, Feb 8 |
| 19th night | 19 Ramadan | Thu, Feb 25 | Fri, Feb 26 |
| Last ten nights begin (21st night) | 21 Ramadan | Sat, Feb 27 | Sun, Feb 28 |
| 23rd night | 23 Ramadan | Mon, Mar 1 | Tue, Mar 2 |
| 25th night | 25 Ramadan | Wed, Mar 3 | Thu, Mar 4 |
| 27th night | 27 Ramadan | Fri, Mar 5 | Sat, Mar 6 |
| 29th night and last fast | 29 Ramadan | Sun, Mar 7 | Mon, Mar 8 |
| Eid al-Fitr | 1 Shawwal | Mon, Mar 8 | Tue, Mar 9 |
The odd nights matter because of ليلة القدر (laylat al-qadr, the Night of Power). It is sought on one of the odd-numbered nights of the last ten, the 21st to the 29th, with Sunni Muslims giving the 27th special weight and Shia Muslims the 19th, 21st and 23rd (Wikipedia, Laylat al-Qadr). In 2027 the 27th night begins at sunset on Friday 5 March. For what to say when the month starts and on Eid morning, see our Islamic phrases in Arabic.
Islamic calendar 2027 to 2036: key dates and PDFs
Each row is one Gregorian year, with the Umm al-Qura date of every key day in it and that year's printable calendar. The Hijri year is 10 or 11 days shorter, so every date moves earlier each year: Ramadan goes from February in 2027 to October in 2036.

2030 has two Ramadan starts, in January and late December, and 2033 has two Eid al-Fitr dates. From 2031 to 2033 Eid al-Fitr comes in January, ending the Ramadan that began the December before, so read each row as what falls in that Gregorian year, not as one Ramadan season.
What is on each printable page
Each PDF has 12 US Letter pages, one per month, Sunday to Saturday. Every square shows the Gregorian date in large type, the Hijri day in Arabic digits in the corner, and the Hijri day and month in English below. The first of each Hijri month gets its full name in English and Arabic, the six key days are shaded and named in both, and every footer repeats the sighting caveat. For A4, choose fit to page.
The Arabic on each page is short and repeats every month, which makes it easy reading practice (transliteration here uses plain English letters). Each weekday sits under its Arabic name, from الأحد (al-ahad, Sunday) to السبت (al-sabt, Saturday), and the month header pairs names like رمضان (Ramadan) and شوال (Shawwal) with the year in Arabic digits and هـ (h, short for hijri, meaning AH). If you are still learning the letters, the month names make good step-by-step reading practice, alongside our Arabic days of the week. Hijri years were also written into verse as chronograms, where the letters of a line add up to the year; our abjad calculator shows how chronograms encode a Hijri year.
A script produced every date on this page and in the PDFs; none was typed by hand. It reads the same Umm al-Qura table, computed in Node 24 / ICU 78.2, that produced the tables on our Hijri date converter.
Why a printed Islamic date can be a day off
A printed Islamic calendar is a calculation, while many communities start Ramadan and the Eids only when the new crescent is seen, so the announced day can differ. Umm al-Qura is the calendar Saudi Arabia calculates in advance. Robert van Gent of Utrecht University, who reconstructed how it works, notes that festival dates across communities can differ by one, two or even three days. Treat every date here as a planning date and check your mosque's announcement at the end of Shaban. More free tools are on our Arabic learning resources page.
Frequently asked questions
What are the Islamic dates for the year 2027?
2027 runs from 23 Rajab 1448 AH on 1 January to 3 Shaban 1449 AH on 31 December, by the Umm al-Qura calendar. Ramadan 1448 begins on Monday 8 February, Eid al-Fitr is Tuesday 9 March, the Day of Arafah is Saturday 15 May, Eid al-Adha is Sunday 16 May, the Islamic New Year (1 Muharram 1449) is Sunday 6 June and Ashura is Tuesday 15 June. Local moon sighting can move Ramadan and the Eids by one or two days.
Will 2027 have two Ramadan?
No. Ramadan begins once in 2027, on Monday 8 February. The next Gregorian year with two Ramadan starts is 2030, when Ramadan 1451 begins on 5 January and Ramadan 1452 on 26 December (Umm al-Qura dates). In 2033 it is Eid al-Fitr that falls twice, on 3 January and 23 December. Local moon sighting can move any of these dates by a day or two.
Which date is Eid in 2027?
Eid al-Fitr 2027 is Tuesday 9 March and Eid al-Adha 2027 is Sunday 16 May, by the Umm al-Qura calendar. The Fiqh Council of North America also lists 9 March for Eid al-Fitr, and sets Eid al-Adha as the day after the Day of Arafah announced in Saudi Arabia. Where Eid waits for a local sighting of the moon, it can fall a day later.
What Islamic year is 2027?
Two Hijri years. 1448 AH runs until Saturday 5 June 2027, and 1449 AH begins on Sunday 6 June 2027, which is the Islamic New Year. A Hijri year has 354 or 355 days, so it never lines up with one Gregorian year.
Are the printable Islamic calendars free?
Yes. Each year from 2027 to 2036 is one free PDF of 12 pages, one per Gregorian month, with no sign-up. The pages are US Letter. To print on A4, choose fit to page in the print dialog.
