The Arabic on the sheets is copied from our other pages. The twelve tracing words and their meanings come from the Ramadan words table on our Ramadan 2027 dates and fasting timetable, and the numbers from our Arabic numbers chart from 1 to 100, which writes long vowels doubled (waaḥid). Transliteration elsewhere follows the Ramadan 2027 page: ʿ is the letter ع, ʾ is a glottal stop, and long vowels carry no mark.
Ramadan 2027 dates on the calendar sheet
The calendar sheet uses the Umm al-Qura calendar: the first fast of Ramadan 1448 is Monday 8 February 2027, the 29th and last is Monday 8 March, and Eid al-Fitr is Tuesday 9 March. The first tarawih prayer is the evening before the first fast, Sunday 7 February.
Where Ramadan starts when the new moon is seen locally, every date can move one day later, and the sheet says so at the bottom. The last square reads "Eid al-Fitr, or Ramadan 30" for the same reason: if the month runs to 30 days, Eid is 10 March. For suhoor and iftar times in your city, use our Ramadan 2027 timetable. For the whole Hijri year, print the Islamic calendar 2027 PDF.
How to use the worksheets at home or in class
Start with the calendar on the first night and keep it where the child sees it every day, then add one or two other sheets a week. Four weeks of Ramadan fit the other nine sheets with room to spare.
- Have the child say each word out loud before tracing it. The tracing sheet prints the meaning beside every word, so you can talk about what it means at the same time.
- The tracing and matching words carry their short-vowel marks (harakat), which tell a beginner how to say them. Our guide to Arabic short-vowel marks explains each one.
- Arabic letters change shape when they join. In رَمَضَان the م (mim) joins the ض (dad), while ر (ra) and ا (alif) never join the letter after them. If your child asks why the word looks different from the letters on the maze, our page on how Arabic letters join, for parents shows every case.
- The word search and the maze each have an answer key on page two. Print only page one for the child.
After Ramadan, the Arabic alphabet worksheets for all 28 letters take a child from the single letters to whole words. The Ramadan & Eid set in our free Arabic games for learners plays the same words on a screen. For what to say during the month and on the morning of Eid, see Ramadan Mubarak and Ramadan Kareem, with the replies and Eid Mubarak greetings by region. If the month leaves your child wanting to read the Quran with a teacher, our comparison of online Quran classes for kids and adults sets out prices and terms.
How the worksheets are made
The sheets are laid out as web pages and printed to PDF with the Chromium browser engine, which shapes Arabic the way a word processor does, so every letter takes its correct joined form. The Arabic font is Noto Naskh Arabic, under the SIL Open Font License, and it is embedded in each PDF. We drew the crescent, lantern, dates and other pictures for these sheets as plain outlines for a child to color.
Frequently asked questions
Are these Ramadan worksheets free?
Yes. All ten sheets and the file that holds all of them are free PDFs, with no sign-up and no email form. Print as many copies as you need, at home or for a class.
What age are the Ramadan worksheets for?
Roughly 4 to 10. The picture match, the counting sheet, the Eid card and the color-by-letter page suit children from about 4, and tracing from about 5. The word search and the letter maze need a child who can tell Arabic letters apart, usually from about 7. These ages are our suggestion, based on what each sheet asks a child to do.
What paper size are the Ramadan worksheets?
US Letter, 8.5 by 11 inches. Everything on a sheet sits inside a 7.5 by 10 inch box, so they also print on A4: choose fit to page in the print dialog.
When does Ramadan 2027 start?
Ramadan 1448 begins at sunset on Sunday 7 February 2027, and the first fast is Monday 8 February, by the Umm al-Qura calendar. Eid al-Fitr is Tuesday 9 March. Where Ramadan starts when the new moon is seen locally, every date can move one day later. The calendar sheet prints the Umm al-Qura dates.
Does my child need to read Arabic to use the worksheets?
No. Every Arabic word is printed with its transliteration in Latin letters, and every instruction is written out in English. The tracing sheet and the picture match are a gentle first look at the script. The word search and the maze work best once a child knows the letters.
