Arabic TV Channels You Can Watch Live, and the Arabic Each One Speaks

Updated November 2026

Start with Al Jazeera Arabic. It broadcasts news in Modern Standard Arabic around the clock, free, on aljazeera.net/live and on its official YouTube channel. On 2 November 2026 we checked 21 Arabic TV channels: 15 had a free, legal live stream. The table says which Arabic each one speaks, where to watch, and the level it needs.

21 Arabic TV channels, checked on 2 November 2026

We checked every row on the day against the channel's own live page, its official YouTube channel or Shahid, MBC's streaming platform. "Free" means the broadcaster itself offered the live stream without a subscription. Broadcasters block some streams by country, and we checked from one connection, so a stream that was open to us may be closed where you live.

Read the free-stream column first. Fifteen of these channels stream free, and nine of those fifteen are news. News channels give their signal away to reach viewers; drama and children's programming are what the big broadcasters charge for. If you want dialect on a live channel, expect to pay for it, or to go to the Maghreb, where the state channels stream for free.

How we checked, and what we left out

A channel made the table only if we could reach its live stream from the broadcaster itself on 2 November 2026: the channel's own website, its official YouTube channel showing a live broadcast, or the official MBC platform Shahid. We then marked what that stream cost, using the plan Shahid itself attaches to each channel. We did not count a channel as free because a blog or an app said so.

That rule removes most of what ranks for this search below Wikipedia's list and a few industry reports: pages written to look like guides that send you to "free live TV" apps and IPTV playlists. Those are re-broadcasts the channels did not license, and they vanish without notice. We link none of them.

Some well-known channels are missing for a stated reason:

  • LBCI, the Lebanese channel, has a live page on lbcgroup.tv that asks you to sign in and points to paid viewing packages. If you are paying for Lebanese anyway, it belongs on your list.
  • Majid TV, the Abu Dhabi children's channel: majid.ae now redirects to ADMN on STARZPLAY, and we could not confirm a free live stream there.
  • Dubai TV: its streaming site, Dubai+, would not show us a player we could check, so we left it out rather than guess.
  • Al Jazeera Mubasher, the network's live-events channel, had no broadcast running on its YouTube channel when we looked.

News channels: fusha you can listen to all day

A news channel is the best live Arabic a learner can get, because it is the only one that stays in Modern Standard Arabic, الفصحى (al-fuṣḥā, the standard written language), for hours at a time. Every bulletin is read in fusha on every news channel in the table. The big stories come round again in bulletin after bulletin, and the pictures tell you what a story is about before the words do.

Al Jazeera Arabic is our first pick because it is the easiest to reach: a free player on its own site and a live stream on its official YouTube channel, neither of which asked us for an account. BBC News Arabic, France 24 Arabic and DW Arabic are the closest alternatives, all three run from Europe for a pan-Arab audience. Al Arabiya, Sky News Arabia and Asharq News are Gulf-based. Al Qahera News is Egyptian and Roya News is Jordanian, which matters less for the bulletins than for the studio guests.

The guests are where the dialects come in. The presenter reads in fusha; the man interviewed in a Cairo street answers in Egyptian, and a guest from Beirut drifts into Lebanese within a sentence. Once you can follow the bulletins, those interviews are a cheap way to hear a dialect beside the standard.

Three words appear on the screen of nearly every channel above, and they are worth learning before you start:

  • بث مباشر (bathth mubāshir), live broadcast
  • عاجل (ʿājil), breaking news, usually in a red banner
  • نشرة الأخبار (nashrat al-akhbār), the news bulletin

Live news runs at full native speed with no slowing down for you, so it suits an upper-intermediate learner who already reads fusha. A beginner will hear a wall of sound, and should keep it on in the background for the rhythm, with something slower for real study.

Entertainment channels, by dialect

Entertainment channels mostly speak the dialect of the country they serve, while the pan-Arab ones mix several. If you have picked a dialect, only a few channels will do.

Saudi and Gulf

Al Saudiya and SBC are the two free dialect channels in the table, both on Shahid's ad-supported tier. Al Saudiya is the state channel, with fusha news and Saudi programmes; SBC carries Saudi drama and talk shows. MBC 1 is the region's big pan-Arab channel and plays series from everywhere, which is good television and a muddle for study.

Egyptian

We found no free, legal live stream of an Egyptian entertainment channel on the day. MBC Masr is the obvious one, and it is on Shahid VIP. For free Egyptian listening, Egyptian films and series on demand do the job better than live TV, and our Egyptian Arabic learning resources list the courses to pair with them.

Levantine

MTV Lebanon is on Shahid VIP and LBCI sells its own packages. Roya News streams free, but it is a news channel, so its Jordanian comes mostly from guests and reports. Our Jordanian Arabic guide covers what the local speech sounds like.

Maghreb

Tunisia's Al Wataniya 1 and Morocco's Al Aoula both stream free on their broadcasters' own sites, with news in fusha and local programmes in the dialect. They are the only free dialect channels in the table outside Saudi Arabia, and both are hard: Darija and Tunisian carry French and Amazigh words that courses built on Egyptian or Levantine do not cover.

Children's channels in fusha

Children's channels are the easiest live Arabic to follow, because imported cartoons are dubbed into fusha rather than any one dialect, and the picture carries the story. Spacetoon is the channel a generation of Arab children grew up on, and it now streams live only inside its Spacetoon Go app, which starts with a 7-day trial and then needs a membership; on satellite it is still free on Nilesat. MBC 3 is on Shahid VIP.

The one free live stream we found was Cartoon Network MENA's on YouTube, and it loops one series rather than showing the channel's schedule. For free fusha cartoons you are better off with on-demand episodes, which our page on Arabic cartoons sorted by fusha or dialect lists one by one. If Spacetoon's dubbed anime is what you remember, see anime dubbed into Arabic and where to stream it legally.

Quran channels

Saudi Arabia runs two channels that broadcast live from the two holy mosques, and both were free to watch on 2 November 2026. Qanat al-Quran al-Karim, قناة القرآن الكريم (the Holy Quran channel), shows the Grand Mosque in Makkah live, with the prayers and Quran recitation. Its sister, Qanat al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah, قناة السنة النبوية (the Prophetic Sunnah channel), shows the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah. Both are on their official YouTube channels and on Shahid's free tier.

For a learner the recitation is useful at any level, provided you follow it in a printed Quran. Reading along while a trained reciter recites is how you learn where the long vowels and the stops fall, which the tajweed rules chart sets out one rule at a time. The Quranic duas to read along with a reciter are verses of the Quran themselves, so you will hear them recited on these channels, which is a good check on your own pronunciation.

How to use a live channel for listening

Pick one channel and keep it. A news channel's presenters, graphics and stock phrases repeat every day, and after a week you will catch whole sentences that were noise on the first day.

Watch the top of the hour. The headlines come first, they are short, and the same stories return in longer reports later in the hour, so you meet each one twice. Ten minutes at the start of the hour is better practice than an hour in the background.

Then check yourself against text. Most of the news channels in the table publish the same stories as articles on their websites, so read the article after you have listened and see how much you caught.

When live TV is too fast

Live television will not slow down, and on some days you will need something that does. A recorded series in your dialect gives you the same voices for 20 hours, and our list of Arabic series sorted by dialect and level names twelve of them with the platform each one is on. For a few minutes a day, Arabic YouTube channels and podcasts made for learners label every host's dialect the way this table labels every channel's.

Frequently asked questions

Can I watch Arabic TV channels online for free?

Yes, legally, for most news channels and a few others. On 2 November 2026 we checked 21 channels and 15 had a free official live stream: Al Jazeera Arabic, Al Arabiya, Sky News Arabia, BBC News Arabic, France 24 Arabic, DW Arabic, Asharq News, Al Qahera News and Roya News on their own sites or official YouTube channels; Saudi Arabia's Al Saudiya and SBC on Shahid's free, ad-supported tier; Tunisia's Al Wataniya 1 and Morocco's Al Aoula on their broadcasters' own sites; and the Makkah Quran channel and the Madinah Sunnah channel on YouTube. Entertainment channels such as MBC 1, MBC Masr and MTV Lebanon sit behind a Shahid VIP subscription.

Which Arabic TV channel is best for learning Arabic?

A news channel, if you are learning Modern Standard Arabic. News is the one kind of Arabic television that speaks fusha all day, the big stories come round again in bulletin after bulletin, and the pictures tell you what each one is about. We would start with Al Jazeera Arabic, which streams free on aljazeera.net and on its official YouTube channel. If you are learning a dialect instead, a live channel is a poor tool: pick a series in that dialect.

Do Arabic news channels speak fusha or dialect?

The presenters read the news in Modern Standard Arabic, on every channel in our table. The people they interview often do not. A minister may answer in careful fusha, a man in a Cairo street will answer in Egyptian, and a studio guest from Beirut will drift into Lebanese. That mix is useful practice once you can follow the bulletins, because you hear the standard and a dialect side by side.

Is there an Arabic kids TV channel I can stream free?

Not a full channel, as far as we could find on 2 November 2026. Spacetoon streams live only inside its Spacetoon Go app, which starts with a 7-day trial and then needs a membership, and MBC 3 is on Shahid VIP. Cartoon Network MENA runs a free live stream on its official YouTube channel, but it loops one series rather than the channel. For free cartoons in fusha, on-demand episodes on official YouTube channels are the better route.

Is there a live Quran TV channel online?

Yes. Saudi Arabia's Quran channel, Qanat al-Quran al-Karim, broadcasts live from the Grand Mosque in Makkah, and its sister channel, Qanat al-Sunnah al-Nabawiyyah, broadcasts from the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah. On 2 November 2026 both were live on their official YouTube channels, and both were on Shahid's free tier.
