Participles and verbal noun of wajada

The active participle follows the pattern fāʿil: وَاجِد (wājid). The passive participle follows mafʿūl: مَوْجُود (mawjūd). Form I verbal nouns follow no single pattern, and Wiktionary lists four for wajada: وِجْدَان (wijdān), وُجُود (wujūd), وَجْد (wajd), جِدَة (jida). Learn them with the verb, or look them up under w-j-d in one of the dictionaries in our guide.

Why wajada conjugates this way

وَجَدَ (wajada) begins with the weak letter و (w), which makes it an assimilated verb. In the Form I present the و (w) drops out (يَجِدُ (yajidu)), and so does the command (جِدْ (jid)). In the past it stays (وَجَدْتُ (wajadtu)). Walada (to give birth to) and waqafa (to stop, to stand still) are assimilated too, and change in the same places.
